holicay, Oct 4

The clouds were beautiful today!

They made me walk toward Yooldong park, to see them better.

They looked like waves on the ocean, or angels' breaths at Yooldong park.

I could see them on the lake, too. It seemed to me that the fish was swimming through the clouds.

I dropped by Beansbins for a cup of coffee.

Iced caramel macchiato. (According to Wikipedia, this drink is made by combining vanilla-flavored syrup with steamed milk, pouring the espresso on top of the milk, then topping it off with caramel sauce. The sauce then melts from the heat of the espresso directly under it and seeps down into the drink.) This was the most expensive coffee beverage (W5300) I could get at Beansbins.

Some time alone on this beautiful sunday.

Chuseok, Oct 3

Today is Chuseok(추석). We also call it Hangawee(한가위), which means "great middle." It is a harvest festival and a three-day holiday (Chuseok as well as the day before it and afterwards are legal holidays) in Korea. It is on the 15th day of the 8th month on lunar calendar. On Chuseok night, we always have the full moon. On Chuseok day, all royal palaces and royal tombs in Seoul are open to people free of charge. It usually doesn't cost too much, though. (average cost: 1,000 won to 3,000won) Still, I decided to visit some of the palaces on this special day. The weather was just perfect for a tour to old palaces.

Kyungbok Palace (경복궁): As far as I know, it is the largest palace in Seoul.

It was beautiful, but not as impressive as the first time I saw it about the same time last year.

Then I went through the newly made Gwanghwa Gate Square (광화문 광장) to Deoksu Palace. There were so many people, mostly families and elders who came for a walk.

Deoksu Palace (덕수궁) is near Seoul City Hall. It is much smaller than Kyungbok Palace but cozier and quieter.

There was a pretty, little cafe called 돌담길, which overlooks a little pond.

The best way to spend a traditional holiday: visit old palaces!

On the way home...

TGIF, Oct 1

It has been almost a year since I last had dinner at TGIF (Seohyun branch). I got a coupon through e-mail the other day and went there for dinner.

<- Boneless Kungpow Wings: One of my favorites. Spicy, crispy and sweet.

<-Half Rack Double Glazed Ribs: Tender and sweet. I loved it!

<-Jack Diniel's Chopped Steak:
A nice meal. Love Jack Diniel's sauce

I used to be a regular at T.G.I.Fridays (several years ago). Now it's just once or twice a year for me to have dinner there. Lots of memories buried in there yet.

Clouds, Oct 1

The sky is getting prettier. The clouds too. I can't take my eyes off of the sky these days whenever I go out.
Sometimes they are so low that I feel like I can touch them.
With the light from the sunset, they change colors. So marvelous!

Sweetie house, Sep 29

Restaurant, Sweetie House (What a cute name!)
265-1 Jooam-dong, Gwacheon City, Kyungki-do
02-507-0773

I had dinner with Mr. Choi (principal of Guro MS) here. I called him to say hello and to wish him happy Chusok a few days ago. He told me he had a meeting at Apgujeong high school (near my school) today so I went there to meet him. He picked me up at Apgujeong and took me to this cozy restaurant. We both had spaghetti (which was DELICOUS) and had a wonderful time.

The sunset we saw there was BEAUTIFUL! He drove me home. He is one of the few teachers that I admire. He's a great principal and administrator. He's so gentle and smart at the same time. I hope to be like him. I'm so glad that I had him as my boss!

Fortune, Sep 28

Stir-fry at a Chinese restaurant in Leaders Tower at Gasan Digital Complex. (forgot the name of the restaurant.) I'm not a fan of Chinese food because it's too greasy to me, but this stir-fry was quite yummy. I didn't like the ketchup on the small amount of cabbage slices and the JJajang sauce (짜장소스) though. Actually, Jjambbong soup (짬뽕국물) came with this dish, and I felt like I was eating four different dishes at the same time.

Had ice-cream (Cledor Green tea Ice cream bar) afterwards. I didn't get any fortune cookies from the Chinese restaurant but I found this inside the ice cream package.
'누군가가 당신에 대해 좋은 이야기를 하고 있군요.'
='Someone is speaking very good of you.'
Wow! That's sweet*

Treluci, Sep 27

Cafe Treluci.
606-3 Shinsa-dong Gangnam-gu Seoul. 02-546-0706.
There used to be days when I walked by this cafe and wished I would come here some day. I've been here twice with Mitch.

Inside the cafe.
On the wall.
View from inside.

Green tea binsu. So delicious!
